Opening Ceremony of iGCORE Gifu Research Building and Human Glycome Atlas Project Special Symposium 2023 were held.

Tokai National Higher Education and Research System , National Institutes of Natural Sciencesand and Soka University have started the “Human Glycome Atlas Project” to comprehensively decipher information on glycans. iGCORE Gifu Research Building, one of the core research facilities of the project, was opened.

 On Monday, May 15, 2023, the opening ceremony and preview of the iGCORE Gifu Research Building were held in the presence of guests from MEXT, Gifu Prefecture, Gifu City, and related organizations, as well as executives from Tokai National Higher Education and Research System.

Following the opening ceremony, the “Human Glycome Atlas Project Special Symposium 2023” was held at the Gifu University Auditorium.

 

 Following an overview of the Human Glycome Atlas Project (HGA), invited lectures were given by Professor Akiyoshi Keisei of Kyoto University on “Glycoscience for the Future: Synergy with Materials Science” and by Professor Morten Thaysen-Andersen of Macquarie University on “New Opportunities as Glycoscience Enters the Glycoproteomics Era”. In addition, Dr. Tamao Endo, Senior Fellow at Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Gerontology, gave a special lecture on “Glycosylation Diversity: What Lies Ahead”.
